Research areas:
Genetics of narcolepsy, craniofacial structures in Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA), sleep-disordered breathing and metabolic syndrome, and the impact of East Asian facial morphology on airway collapse.
Current focus:
Identifying genetic biomarkers for sleep disorders within the Han Chinese population and developing precision surgical interventions for OSA based on 3D airway imaging. The center is currently investigating how soft tissue volume versus bony structure influences sleep apnea severity differently in Asian versus Caucasian populations.

A specialized interdisciplinary research center affiliated with Taipei Medical University. It collaborates extensively with the International Neuro-Neuromodulation Society and focuses on the intersection of sleep and brain health.
Research areas:
Neurobiology of insomnia, sleep and neurodegenerative diseases (Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s), neuromodulation techniques (tDCS) for sleep disorders, and the relationship between sleep quality and psychiatric health.
Current focus:
Investigating the use of non-invasive brain stimulation to treat chronic insomnia and cognitive impairment. Led by Dr. Kang-Yun Lee, the center is currently running clinical trials on how improving sleep architecture can serve as a neuroprotective strategy in aging populations.
